Apprentice of the Year – South West Joseph Harris – Alford Build

Training supplier: Cornwall College Trade: Carpenter and joinery – advanced Level 3 Architectural Joinery Apprenticeship Qualifications: First aider and Level 2 architectural bench joiner Characteristics Intelligent: He has passed his courses at college with distinction. Dedicated: He is often revising his work to hone his craft. Team player: He is always willing to support his colleagues.

Apprentice of the Year – Scotland Noah Archibald – Haldane Construction Services Ltd

Training supplier: CITB Trade: Full-time General Construction Operative SCQF Level 5 Qualifications: Health, Safety & Environment test, 360° excavator operator, driver’s licence Characteristics Dedicated: Archibald has to travel 50 miles from his home to complete his college duties and spends two weeks at a time at the CITB National Construction College in Renfrew. Confident: He volunteered to step in when the business was short of a bricklayer. He made mistakes but he was attentive and eager to learn to remedy them. Mature and skillful: His employer and college mentor forget his youth due to his mature approach.

Apprentice of the Year – North West Rhys Barber — Cheshire Building and Joinery Ltd

Training supplier: Macclesfield College – City and Guilds Trade: Carpentry and joinery

Qualifications: Level 3 joinery, level 2 site carpentry and joinery, CSCS red card, health and safety, first aid

Characteristics Tenacious: He was made redundant at the start of Covid, 6 months into an apprenticeship before being taken on by Cheshire Building and Joinery. But he continued studying on his own even when colleges and businesses were closed. Loves learning: He watches tutorials and asks questions. Reliable: He’s often the first person to arrive at work.

Apprentice of the Year – Northern Ireland Matthew Graham - Rahoran Ltd Training supplier: South West College, Enniskillen Trade: Joinery Qualifications: L2 NVQ wood occupations,

Apprentice of the Year – Northern Counties Kaidan Bradley Radford — Radford Construction Services Ltd Training supplier: Derwentside college Trade: Bricklaying Qualifications: Completed an NVQ Diploma in building maintenance multi -trade repair refurbishment (construction) in 2019 at New College Durham Characteristics Motivated: He turns up on time and is ready to work every session. Adaptable: He experiences learning difficulties such as autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia but has created unique methods to excel at his apprenticeship. Generous: He’s eager to share his knowledge.

Essential Skills ICT L2, forward tipping dumper training, CSR, Facefit, L2 diploma in site carpentry, mental health awareness

Characteristics Team player: He’s always willing to help others. Loves to learn: He’s committed to acquiring skills and knowledge of commercial and residential environments. Eye for detail: His attentiveness has enabled him to contribute to the refurbishment of a private home.
