FMB North enjoyed a positive 2023 as it provided many opportunities to visit members and learn more about their business needs. The Master Builder Awards were a great success, too. The quality of the projects and people that won awards was significant. Special mention must be made to all members that entered as it shows what a strong performance Master Builders are capable of. New National President Chris Carr has been busy in the region, visiting each FMB area board and talking to as many members as possible since his election in September. Chris has shared his exciting plans for the FMB during his tenure, including the launch of an FMB app (see page 18) in the new year. It has been a festive time for many, but not for all members. North Director Caroline Meehan issued a helpful reminder: “I hope you all enjoyed downtime with loved ones over the Christmas and new year break, but winter months can be a tough time for some, so do check in on your mates. FMB members help hundreds of homeowners Master Builders Joe Cole of All Build Developments Ltd, Shaun Pennell of Marun Construction Ltd, and Mark Peggram of MRP Construction Ltd supported the FMB over two days at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show Somerset in Shepton Mallet. Collectively, FMB members spoke with hundreds of homeowners, offering advice, answering questions and providing guidance on a range of topics as part of the show’s advice centre. Joe also gave a presentation to a packed audience on choosing a building contractor, leading to plenty of questions afterwards. The FMB stand was next to the advice centre, where we showed homeowners our Find A Builder service and explained why the FMB logo provides quality and peace of mind to clients. All three of our members received enquiries over the weekend and we look forward to hearing more about these projects in the coming months. My thanks to Joe, Shaun and Mark for their time and help. At recent meetings, both the Southern Counties and South West Area Boards heard from FMB National President Chris Carr about his vision and ideas for his presidency. All members were very supportive of Chris’ hopes and are looking forward to supporting him and the FMB to achieve them.
