Program delivery was achieved with tight funding and regulatory parameters. Housing Choices demonstrated strong readiness, mobilising quickly under compressed timeframes in South Australia and Tasmania, and completing delivery ahead of other CHPs in those jurisdictions. Further, in partnership with Origin Energy, Housing Choices also secured funding under the Victorian Government’s 100 Neighbourhood Batteries Program administered by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA). This will enable battery installation across six sites, supporting renewable energy uptake, improving grid resilience, and reducing our residents’ electricity costs.

In 2024-25, Housing Choices progressed a series of initiatives to embed sustainability across our operations and housing portfolio. This work focused on reducing emissions, lowering tenant energy costs, extending asset life, and ensuring compliance with human rights obligations.

Strategic development

Housing Choices established a dedicated sustainability resource to lead the development of our work in the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and sustainability space. Our work is evidence-based, informed by resident feedback, and aligned with national housing objectives and international best practice. We commit to focusing on climate resilience, energy eciency, procurement standards, and social sustainability outcomes. Our approach will be: • Data-driven, using smart tools and insights to continuously improve how we deliver impact. • Community-centric, ensuring residents are at the heart of our decision making and benefit from healthier, more inclusive living environments. • Globally aligned, drawing inspiration from international best practices while tailoring solutions to our local context. • Future-focused, building resilience to climate change and social challenges so our communities can flourish for generations to come.

Modern Slavery Statement

In December 2024, Housing Choices published its first Modern Slavery Statement, meeting legislative requirements and rearming our commitment to ethical practice and human rights. Over the past year we have focused on establishing the foundations of our modern slavery framework. This has included strengthening our procurement practices, developing policies and embedding awareness across Housing Choices. Our commitment to continuous improvement means that we will continue to build capability, work collaboratively with suppliers and stakeholders and integrate responsible business practices. At Housing Choices we remain committed to transparency, accountability and contributing to the identification and mitigation of modern slavery in all its forms.
