Housing Choices Australia Annual Report 2025

building a sense of belonging at breheny place

Breheny Place is more than a housing development. It’s a growing community where people feel seen, supported and part of something bigger.

Breheny Place delivered 48 new, safe, and aordable homes for individuals and families in need. But for Housing Choices, moving into a new house is just the beginning - we know that creating a true sense of home also means feeling welcome, supported and connected.

That’s why, for the first time, our Community Engagement team introduced two dedicated welcome events to support new residents at Breheny Place: New Resident Information Sessions and a local Community Expo. These initiatives were designed to ensure that people not only settled into their new homes smoothly but also felt confident in their tenancies and connected to the local services and support available. The response was overwhelmingly positive. An incredible 45 of the 48 new households attended the information sessions, which oered guidance on everything from understanding tenancy rights to connecting with Housing Choices sta and support teams. Shortly after, 40 residents participated in the Community Expo, where a range of local service providers came together to share information, build relationships, and help residents feel part of the wider Ulverstone community.

These events reflected a shift in how Housing Choices supports people through key transition points—not just handing over the keys, but investing in the experience of moving in, meeting neighbours, and accessing opportunities from day one. Breheny Place is more than a housing development. It’s a growing community where people feel seen, supported and part of something bigger. These new welcome initiatives are now being explored for future developments, helping to embed community connection into the heart of our housing approach.
