Grant win: Support for NDIS Providers Grants Program; Quality and Safeguarding
The Harbour – Award winning social housing development in the City of Darebin, delivered by Housing Choices in partnership with Homes Victoria through the State Government’s Big Housing Build program, with support from the City of Darebin and the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation
Housing Choices was awarded $481,229 to deliver the ‘Safeguarding NDIS participants by building a disability inclusive housing workforce’ project, one of six national recipients under a competitive grant round.
Best Aordable Housing Development and; Best Development Innovation
• Funded by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Grants Program, the project will improve quality and safeguarding practices across Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and social housing by equipping sta with the knowledge and skills to safeguard residents with disability. • Co-design principles will be used through the design and roll-out of the training and resident resources through the engagement of VALID, the Victorian peak advocacy organisation for adults with intellectual disability. • The training modules and resident resources developed throughout the project will also be made freely available to the sector. By sharing these resources, we aim to strengthen safeguarding practices across the sector, benefiting other housing providers and the sector more generally.
• 78 high-quality, energy-ecient homes that foster connection and community—supporting smoother move-ins and long-term stability.
• Delivered with Homes Victoria under the Big Housing Build; all dwellings meet LHA Silver, 5 Star Green Star and 7 Star NatHERS.
