The three layers mentioned above are all continuous with the CT that attaches skeletal muscle to other structures such as bone or another muscle. An example of all three layers extending beyond the muscle fibre is a Tendon . c) Tendon : extension of all 3 layers of deep fascia that extend beyond the length of the muscle and attach muscle to the periosteum of bone. It is composed of dense regular connective tissue with lots of collagen fibres. Ex. The common calcanean tendon: the tendon of the gastrocnemius muscle attaching to the calcaneus.

d) Aponeurosis : CT layers extension that forms as a broad, flat layer.
