Pancreas

Anatomy: The pancreas is BOTH an endocrine gland and exocrine gland. ~ 99% of the cells in the pancreas arranged in clusters called Acini which produce digestive enzymes that flow into the GIT through ducts. Scatter among the acini are 1-2 million tiny clusters of ENDCRINE tissue called Pancreatic Islets Aka Islets of Langerhans. The pancreas is located below the kidneys near the stomach and small intestine.

Secretory Cells & Hormones

Alpha Aka A Cells: secrete Glucagon .

Beta Aka B Cells: secrete Insulin .
