candidate would have been better than you are in the role that you are starting out in. What are your plans for the future of TBC? The beverage market in Thailand alone will not allow TBC to grow at the pace that we hope to achieve, so it will be particularly important for us to branch out and look for other levers of growth. The first component we will look toward is

Listen. It is easy to come in with your new ideas and simply force them down and through a company. But as a new member of the business it is important to know why things have been done and how they have been done. Only then is it acceptable for you to really drive initiatives and create change because if you do not know where the company has come from, it is more than difficult to steer it accordingly. I say that with caution. Listening is

On the other hand, it is easy to simply just be timid as a younger member. However, I think this is the wrong mindset. As a younger member of management, I tend to have a different perspective that is less influenced by the existing processes and business customs. It makes it much easier to innovate and think about ways to improve. Also, I think youth is an asset. Youth provides perhaps more understanding of a demographic that will experience the most spending power

growth within the CLMVT region. This region has seen and will likely continue to see more growth and will require us to develop a different skillset in operating a facility in these countries that have very different market dynamics. Additionally, we are looking toward sustainable packaging as a key growth lever. We have seen a continued growth in sustainability conscious packaging and we know that Thai Beverage Can can provide the most sustainable beverage packaging in the world bar none. The truly closed loop supply chain in Thailand coupled with our Aluminium Loop product will allow for all cans produced and sold to be completely recycled in a radius of less than 400km all within 60 days. This is particularly

growth. So it is important to realize the value of your youth as a young member of the management team and use this mindset effectively. What advice would you give any aspiring students on your journey toward a top university in the US? I think there is no real set formula for the US. There are obviously the basics – a great SAT, GRE or GMAT score, strong extracurricular activities and good grades. But beyond that, it is important to do what you are passionate about and do it well. These universities have a common thread in finding people who are devoted, passionate and accomplished and if you really dive deep into whichever area that interests you most – that is already half the battle. It almost does not matter what interests you. I have had

that pushes the capabilities of our organization further. Being only 27 years old, has this brought any particular challenges for you as a business leader? Definitely. I think doing business in Thailand is particularly difficult as someone who is younger. There are customs around respecting individuals who are older. It is very much a part of our language. This makes it challenging to be an effective boss or mentor to those who are older or getting people to take you seriously. Also, there is a lack of experience that comes with age and it is important to recognize your shortcomings as a result of that. I lack the experience of managing a large-scale organization, working in a Thai business setting and working in a manufacturing driven business. However, there are members of the family and employees of the business that have that experience. So I tend to ask for their support and guidance when necessary.

production a little over a hundred million cans per year, we have now expanded to several production sites that cumulatively produce over four billion cans per year and we have just opened our aluminum bottle facility, the first in Southeast Asia. This mindset means that we continue to refine what we do with improving our operations on a weekly basis and look toward new initiatives that will unlock further growth. Finally, is the broad portfolio of the companies we have the privilege to work with. From top beer manufacturers such as Singha to new innovative drinks such as Greenery canned water, we have a customer base that have pushed us to innovate. Creating new coatings, printing techniques, can sizes and drastically improve our processes. These vast demands driven by the numerous customers we serve allow us to be competitive in every market and in every dimension. We never shy away from a customer demand that is new to the industry or difficult to achieve – we leverage a learning mindset

How does TBC maintain its competitive edge in the industry? I think I can attribute our success to three different pillars The first is our partners. We are fortunate to have Berli Jucker and Ball Corporation as our partners. Berli Jucker provides us with a keen business acumen and the right resources for us to scale and drive our organization. The rigor in their management team allows us to continuously push our performance. This is coupled with Ball Corporation, the world’s largest aluminum can producer in the world. Our partnership allows us to produce consistently high-quality products efficiently and continuously increase our product offerings to our customers. Additionally, the mindset of the organization that permeates throughout the organization allows us to maintain our competitive edge. We have a commitment to our various shareholders to grow both revenue and profitability in a sustainable fashion. This mindset pushes us to have a keen eye on expansion. Since opening our single can line

impressive and currently there is no beverage supply chain as efficient as the one we have here. We believe that this will allow us to develop strong intellectual property and enable our customers to meet their sustainability targets. Finally, I believe that Thai Beverage Can’s key asset is our ability to manage organizations. This can be transferable to other industries and sectors as well. I am sure that when the right opportunity presents itself, we will be keen to leverage our cutting edge mindset and people to enter in new markets in pursuit of new opportunities.

friends at these schools who have been passionate about Chess all the way to people who are deeply interested in the genetic make up of exotic insects. So look to really bring out that unique side of you that allows to show your passion and devotion to a topic and you are well on your way to accomplishing some great things that will be a really strong foundation for your application when you apply. What advice would you give new generation family business individuals in creating the right career path?

important but maintaining a fresh perspective needs to be a priority. If you simply listen and conform, then you will lose your perspective on how to improve and grow the existing business. The second piece of advice that I found particularly valuable, is to spend time with the people and prove that you deserve the place you are given. People want to work for people who they respect and simply getting a position because you were born the son or daughter of the right person is not worth much respect. It means that you need to go the extra mile and show that no other
