The LPAPA Gallery is proud to present the 9 th Annual LPAPA “ Waterworks ” Juried Art Show , dedicated to works created by LPAPA Members using Transparent Watercolors. In May, LPAPA proudly celebrates the luminous and expressive medium of watercolor! Artists who embrace the challenge of painting en plein air with transparent watercolor have honed unique techniques to meet the demands of changing light, shifting weather, and the fluid nature of the medium itself. The result? Breathtaking works that capture the fleeting beauty of light and atmosphere in ways only watercolor can. This special exhibition features stunning pieces created both in the field and in the studio—each one a testament to the magic of watercolor and the artists who bring it to life. LPAPA would like to thank the Joe Hanks Van Cleave Foundation as our Awards Sponsor for 2025. Joe Hanks Van Cleave, and the Foundation’s Mission, is honored through LPAPA’s annual Waterworks show with the works of our LPAPA artists who are dedicated to painting the landscape and continuing the Laguna Plein Air Painting tradition and legacy.

LPAPA’s 9th Annual “Waterworks” Juried Art Show is proudly presented at the LPAPA Gallery, May 1 through June 2, 2025. The show will open with an online preview beginning Monday, April 28th at 10:00 am PDT, with our online Art Catalog and Preview Auction. The auction will end Thursday May 1, 2025, at 8:00 pm PDT. The online Art Catalog and Preview Auction includes the Juried Award Finalists that will be exhibited at the LPAPA Gallery and judged for Awards, plus the top scoring Semi-Finalists. All artwork is sold framed. The preview auction opens with a starting price based on 80% of the full gallery price, with auction bidding in minimum $10 increments as well as proxy bidding. The auction pricing is underwritten by LPAPA so the artists will receive their full commission

regardless of the auction sales price. A “buy now” feature is included for the opportunity to secure your purchase with added support for LPAPA. We are pleased for the opportunity to share the immense talent of our artists through this exhibition for collectors near and far to enjoy and have the opportunity to add a special work of art to their collections!

Please plan to join us for the First Thursday Artwalk Gallery Reception on May 1st, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm , to help us celebrate the show opening and meet the artists. LPAPA Signature Artist Jason Li will be painting live and LPAPA Signature Artist Rick J. Delanty will have a watercolor easel set up for all to see and learn how watercolor can be used and manipulated. We will be announcing the award winners at 7:00 pm PDT (LPAPA will live-stream the award announcement through it’s Facebook page). The LPAPA Gallery is located in the historic El Paseo at 414 North Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, on Gallery Row between Jasmine and Myrtle Streets (there’s a trolley stop on the corner of North Coast Highway & Jasmine) . Gallery hours are 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, Thursday through Monday, and by appointment, with extended hours the First Thursday of each month.
