B ehind H&A Group’s success is its focus on maintaining accreditation to the highest standards and nurturing a pipeline of talent as its workforce continues to grow. Among the largest gas-registered businesses in Northern Ireland, H&A’s workforce is accredited by Gas Safe, OFTEC and NICEIC and trained in air source heat pumps, solar PVs, battery storage and customer service. Further affiliations include Investors in People, SNIPEF, MCS, SSIP, Constructionline and the National Insulation Service. The firm boasts SCS Integrated Certification across the ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards encompassing quality, safety and environmental monitoring and best practice. In 2022, it signed a Climate Action

With a long-term apprenticeship programme in place, H&A most recently brought in three new starts in September. And ongoing training is a priority for the firm, with many of its senior management team having started out as apprentices. Carlus McWilliams, director, H&A Group, said, “As a family run-business, we place a focus on nurturing our workforce. Our success has been built on a strong programme of ongoing training and developing our apprentices. “We offer our staff members the opportunity to develop their skills and progress within the company
and have managed to retain many long-term employees as a result.” Mental health support is also a focus for the firm, which hosted three days of teambuilding exercises and mental health and wellbeing training at The Jungle NI over July 4-6. Around 65 staff attended each day, which included a morning of mental health guidance followed by participation in The Jungle’s crystal maze mental and physical challenge. Offering insight into everyday problems, how to overcome challenges and keeping mental health in check, the morning sessions were hosted by Frank Diamond from ALPS Ltd, Philip McTaggart from Mind Skills Training and mental health ambassador Chris Kerr.
