BEP's Offer for Schools 2024-25

MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING Mental Health & Well-being

PEER MENTORING Each school will receive a day of face-to-face training for children and young people. They will also receive a half day of training and support for staff. Training will cover the role of a Peer Mentor, team work, listening skills, confidentiality, safeguarding, language, conflict, managing your own well-being and action planning for a campaign in school. After training, young people and staff meet independently to formulate an action plan that is specific to the school’s needs. They can add any campaigns around well-being in line with national drivers e.g: world mental health day. For quality assurance, we will work with you during the onboarding process to support schools in identifying andrecruiting students. We will support the school to ensure the action plan is embedded across the whole school and is regularly reviewed by the school lead and young people.

At Hodge Hill Girls School, through the SAYPMHP, student voice has become a crucial focus for the setting. With a whole school approach and the offer of Peer Mentor training, students have been trained as well-being ambassadors to promote and raise the profile of mental health and well-being across the school community. Through the delivery of the training, students have been trained in a variety of well-being approaches and strategies. The Y6 to Y7 transition project has been hugely successful whereby Y7’s feel welcomed through weekly one to one mentoring session developing a sense of belonging and connection with school through peer led ini- tiatives. The Well-being Ambassadors are promoting early intervention and support peer to peer well-being. Students are normalising conversations about mental health and well-being and openly talking about worries and concerns in and outside of school.

IMPOSTER SYNDROME WORKSHOP “ That imposter or phony feeling at work or school rarely has anything to do with our abilities but has more to do with that fearful voice inside of us that scolds and asks “Who do you think you are? ” (Brene Brown) This workshop for Heads, Teachers and School Leaders will help you to: understand the origins of the imposter phenomenon; help you identify some of the ways this shows up for yourself and others and how it impacts in leadership. You will also increase awareness of ways to help quieten the imposter (and even make an ally of it!) and feel an improved sense of your own value. This workshop will be led by Anna Robinson (UKCP accredited Integrative Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor and BEP Mental Health & Well-being Lead)
