King's Business - 1962-07

personal evangelism by Benjamin Weiss F or som e t im e I have had a feeling that there is something that I need. I don’t know just what it is, but I am sure that I am missing some thing.” This statement was made by a successful professional man. He had just witnessed a telecast in which a person had given a ringing testimony about how his life had been changed through receiving Jesus Christ as Sav iour. He concluded, “ This may be it.” Everyone who has not had a per sonal encounter with God and found God’s peace for his life is conscious of this need. Like this person, he may not be able to identify it or find the answer. He is more aware of it in quiet moments before going to sleep at night or before the business of the day captivates him. It may be some thing like a recurring nagging ache or a persistent puzzling question. What is the answer to this need? One said, “ I have tried to find it in more interesting social engagements and more wholesome associations.” Another stated, “I thought I would find it in really doing something worthwhile and becoming involved in lots of good activities.” These people found, however, that it still sneaks in on them at the most unexpected moments. Right in the middle of a gay conversation with friends at a social affair, suddenly there was this feeling of inadequacy and incomplete ness. Where is the answer? It was given by a Christian counselor to the person who had spoken of his inner need. “We can find the answer in God’s Word,” he said. He opened his Bible and showed the man the verse “Who soever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst” (John 4:14). This statement was con clusive. It wasn’t only a possibility, but a reality. After some moments of discussion, these men bowed their heads and asked God to supply the need by His own presence. It was amazing, but the seeker’s answer was, “ This IS it!” He had a built-in need. God placed it there. No person’s life is ever com plete until it is completed in Him. You and I as witnessing Christians have God’s answer. It is our great privilege to supply the answer to everyone who crosses our path. There is a need — there is an an swer. Christ is the answer.
