W h e n a h o m e m is s io n a r y sug­ gested to two farmers that they begin a Christian radio station, im­ mediately a warm interest was kind­ led. Dave and Egon Hofer had been busy growing grapes for raisins near Fresno in Dinuba, California. The thought was quite a new departure from their usual labors. However, having been trained at the Bible In­ stitute of Los Angeles, and already working diligently in the field of Gospel ministry, they made it a mat­ ter of prayer. On December 22nd, 1946, the sta­ tion was officially launched on the air. Originally broadcasting with 250 watts of power, the facility has since increased to 1,000 watts. Its broadcast covers the lush central Califomia-San Joaquin Valley, with a population in the area of more than 1,000,000, in­ cluding Fresno, Tulare and Kings counties. Such well-known broadcasts as “ Back to the Bible,” “Morning Chapel Hour,” “ Bible Institute Hour,” “Haven of Rest,” and others are heard throughout the day. Christians in Central California have come to de­ pend upon the facility for their daily inspiration.
