Glen Royall Mill Village National Register Historic District Listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, the Glen Royall Mill Village Historic District is one of the most intact mill villages in the state. The period of significance for the district is 1900 to 1949. Houses within the district range from the large Colonial Revival style Powell-White house (pictured below) and mid-sized supervisor’s house to small pyramidal, triple-A, and shotgun cottages built to house the hundreds of mill workers that once lived and worked here. It is bound roughly by the CSX railroad line to the east, the Mill property to the north, North Main Street to the west, and East Cedar Avenue to the south.
