AfriLabs Employee Manual

5.1 Performance Management

Description

The AfriLabs Performance Management System consists of two main components: Job Goal/Target Assessment and Behavioural Assessment. Performance Appraisal is a process that verifies the achievement of set objectives, recognizes the demonstration of good behaviour and values, and takes necessary actions to foster the development of individual employees within the organisation.

5.2 Job Goal/Target Planning

Job Goal/Target Planning is the first step to set performance targets for each staff. It is a joint effort between employees and their supervisors. This is to commence upon completion of staff orientation where s/he is to have been exposed to the performance management culture within the organisation. Thereafter, each employee is expected to consult with the supervisor to; • Develop SMART job goals/targets based on AfriLabs operations objectives for the year, departmental role, and personal objectives for the year • Discuss the anticipated exposures that may be required to achieve these goals • Set benchmarks for goals attainments measurement Each employee and their supervisor must identify up to four results-focused job goals/targets on the AfriLabs Performance Document. Those results-focused job goals/targets must be aligned with departmental and organisational needs.
