5.3 Learning Agenda
Learning is at the heart of what we do at AfriLabs. All AfriLabs employees are to inculcate the habit of being proactive and committed to self-development. To this end, each employee is expected to set a learning agenda along with their Job Goal/Target Planning at the beginning of each performance year cycle. The office would share free resources in this regard however, employees are encouraged to also ensure they are not limited to the internal resources made available in developing their skills and knowledge of the job they perform. In addition to the Performance document, all employees are to fill out their learning agenda in the self-development section of the Performance Doc to outline their anticipated reach in terms of courses/skills to acquire and how it would impact the work they do at AfriLabs.
5.4 Collaboration Session
Collaboration sessions are opportunities for all AfriLabs employees to engage with their supervisors and colleagues to discuss job strengths and weaknesses and engage with supervisors in extensive sessions to extenuate challenges and opportunities available to the department and how that could be harnessed. In addition, it is also a time for supervisees, supervisors, colleagues, and leadership of the organisation can evaluate the annual agenda and give a report on the progress made so far to achieve;
• What are we doing well and should continue? • What are we not doing and should stop? • What are we doing well but could be improved upon?
At the end of this session, all decisions would be given due consideration, and a management brief would be shared with all employees to share the result of the session and the objectives of the organisation going forward in that regard. This would be carried out on a quarterly basis and a fixed date would be communicated from the office of the Executive Director while Heads of Departments are also required to conduct similar sessions within their departments respectively.
