Drivers of electric cars, such as Claire Lemay, the owner of the Nissan Leaf, nowhave a place to charge up their electric and hybrid cars when they are in Russell Township. Last Saturday, October 24, representatives for the Township, several sponsoring businesses, and supporters of alternate energy technology gathered outside La Boulangerie du Village Bakery on Notre-Dame Street in Embrun to welcome the o!cial installation of a new charging station. "e charging station is in operation courtesy of the owners of the business, Melodie Sorrell, David Sorrell, and Bill Sorrell, who joined forces with Sun Country Highway, Coopérative Hydro Embrun Inc., KBMedia, Best Western Plus, Regional Electric Corp., Pierre & Fils Dépanneur, SoudureMénardWelding, Laplante Chevrolet, and Latremouille Tool Sales and Rentals, who co-sponsored the charger station. Sun Country Highway representatives have spent the past several months this year making presentations to local councils within the Prescott-Russell region and to other groups in an e#ort to gather support for developing a regional charging network in Eastern Ontario. – Gregg Chamberlain
