If anyone had any doubt at this point of just how bad ass these guys are, Ida joined us the following day for some ice plunge dipping. I had spoken to Ida when planning the shoot and she said she knew of a frozen lake not too far from where we were staying. The lake had a hole cut into the ice for dipping. The problem was, it hadn’t been used for just over a week so it “maybe” frozen over. I was presented with 2 options, would I like to pay 100€ to have the hole recut or shall we borrow the tools to do it ourselves? The creative director in me could visualise how epic using the tools would look on camera. For perspective, my reference of ice on a lake is a maximum of a few inches thick... Swedish ice on a lake is a few feet thick, and we were presented with a 4 foot drill bit, an axe and a 5 foot saw. An hour and a bit later we could finally get the shots we had been dreaming of. This was the ultimate example of how to use one of our change robes. Warming up and drying off after a dip in sub zero water. The robes were so impressive, they really did what they are designed to do in the harshest of conditions.
