Foundations for the future
WORDS Robyn Dawson
This autumn we announced our new charitable program, the Red Foundation. Recently certified as a B Corp, the move allows for a more targeted approach to our extensive social community work and closely aligns with our unwavering goal to make paddle boarding and the outdoors more accessible. Communication Manager, Robyn Dawson oversees the program and tells us more... “For several years we have been working towards the idea of a Red Foundation as a way of encompassing all our existing civic engagement and community support work. We have always been passionate about supporting and enabling more people to get outside and onto the water and over the years we’ve supported individuals and organisations that span a variety of socially responsible areas. We now hope to reach even more passionate people and support them in their goal to make the outdoors a more inclusive and welcoming space. The Red Foundation will offer grants to small groups and individuals that align with its two core areas, Blue Health, and Access to All. The presiding themes are helping address inclusivity and diversity in the outdoors, mental health, and conservation/
education around the water. The projects we’ve previously supported have been driven by a deep-seated passion within our team to address inclusivity and diversity issues within our industry. This has grown organically through conversations with individuals or groups sharing how they are actively working to address this issue. We are hearing first-hand that so many people across society do not see a place for them on the water or in the outdoors and the Red Foundation strives to change that. We strongly believe everyone deserves to have access to adventure and to inspire others through their own experiences. The foundation will help to champion those people, many who are volunteers who are out there driving change in their own communities. Hopefully through backing from the Red Foundation and Red’s global platform, we can connect even more people with these groups and continue to make a positive change together Groups and individuals may be offered support in the form of equipment and/or funding, depending on the necessities of the project. The intake for applications for 2023/24 is now closed. We are now reviewing all submissions and we will be in touch with all applicants throughout December.
