“ Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever” (Heb. 13:8). Today! It is a word of wonderful promise. It tells that this very moment the wondrous love of God is for thee; that today all that Christ has done, and is even now doing in heaven, and is able to do within thee, is within thy reach. Today, the Holy Ghost is within thee—sufficient for every need, equal to every emergency. Today is the certainty of power and blessing. —Andrew Murray. Bridal Array “Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the wash ing of water by the word” : (Eph. 5:25, 26). ' ‘ How far is the desire of His heart satisfied in us? Does He see earnest care on our part to weave in every thought and deed the bridal array that shall be to His glory as well as our joy? Only He can sanctify and cleanse us through the washing of water by, the Word, bqt we have to listen to that Word and to translate it into practical action every day of our lives, by His grace. —Mrs. Howard Taylor. 13. Looking for His Coming “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorio.us appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” (Tit. 2:13). The truth of our Lord’s return is the most precious truth the Bible contains. 12.

It fills the heart of the believer with joy, and girds him with strength for the battle. It lifts him above the sor rows and feais, and necessities and trials, and ambitions and greed of this world, and makes him in all things more than conqueror. —Reuben Archer Torrey. -14. Prayer Power “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. . .” (Acts 4:31). Lord, teach me to pray— To pray real prayer, Put in my heart Thy own desire— To give, to die to self and sin. And let the Holy Ghost come in To light the holy fire; Aye, Lord, teach me the way of prayer. They prayed—and lo, the stillness broke. We only know that a£ they prayed A change took place— The prayer-room shook, God had come down, And God Himself came to His own. Lord, teach me—teach me to pray! —Selected. 15. Have You God's Vision? “And when he had seen the vision, straightway we sought to go forth . . . concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel unto them” (Acts 16:10, R.V.). If we are honest with ourselves we will confess before God with a broken Heart that we have not been pleading the cause of missions’ and world evangelism because, we have never caught the vision! or we have back slidden and lost the vision that God had given us! or we are so downright selfish and idolatrous of money that we are afraid we will lose something ourselves. May God forgive us, and may we have a heaven-borne revival, based upon a world-wide vision. —J. L. Burris. 16. Always Victorious “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 15:57). In Quo Vadis, the author pictures the Christians kneeling on the blood- drenched sand, singing a hymn, and awaiting martyrdom, undaunted by the horrors around them. The crazy Nero, watching them, and unable to understand such an attitude said, “They see something! What is it?” And the answer came from one who knew: “They see the resurrection.” Was thdre great fear? Was there great joy? , Tears had been shed— Strong cryings heard.
