an investment, that wa§ going to bring him inordinately large returns —absolutely guaranteed by resources, that never could fail. . . . There is nothing to be resigned about-In hav ing investments that are making us rich beyond words.— The Overcomer. 29. Spiritual Beauty “Moses wist not that . . . his face shone” (Ex. 34:29). “He will beautify the meek with salvation.” Spiritual beauty is love liest when it is unconsciously pos sessed. . . The power of a beautiful life makes many a plain face lovely. The face of Moses Was transfigured by the glory of the Eternal. But “MoseS wist not.” That is the supreme height of spiritual loveliness; to be lovely, and not to know it. Virtue is so apt to become self-conscious, and so to lose its glow. . i . We cannot gaze much upon the Lord’s face and remain very conscious of ourselves. Let us lose ourselves in God. —3. H. Jowett. 30. Fenced-in Things “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” (Jer. 33:3), The more literal rendering of the word translated “mighty” is “fenced- in t h i ng s , t he things that are hu manly impossible to reach. Those who expect to receive such blessings must continue instant in prayer, for prom ises are given, hot to supercede prayer, but to encourage prayer. Those who pray and take His prom ises for their pillow will find that their' Father above will do for them things which humanly they could not understand or give credit to. . . . But He-, cannot bestow His choicest gifts upon hasty comers and goers. —Keith L. Brooks. 31. Retrospection “And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee”. (Deut. 8:2)'. v ’Tis good to remember the way He hath led us; - To view once again both the track and the road, To muse on the fact that, unfailing, He fed us— Our faithful and loving, compas sionate God. ’Tis good to remember that He Him self brought us 1’hrough all of life’s journey,, right unto this day; Forgave all our sins—and our blun ders—and taught us To cleave unto Him and to make Him our stay. —J. Danson Smith.

NAZIHATREDof JEWSandTHEIRRELIEF Unfcridled Nazi hatred has made the lives of multitudes unendurable—a veritable hell. Upon no class has that hatred pressed more heavily and con stantly than upon the Jews—especially the Christian Jews.

In these days of sorrow and pain, the black est period in Jewish history, we have discovered that God is causing the wrath of man to praise Him in the way in which so many thousands 'of Jewish- hearts have softened through their persecutions and have become responsive , to the appeal of Christ.

They have outraged daughters be fore their parents’ eyes, and -split open heads' of children before their mothers. Those who have remained alive have been obliged to see their daughters forced into military brothels and their sons sterilized.”

Rev Jacob Peltx A CANDLESTICK OF WITNESS

Church of the Living Redeemer! Awake! Awake! Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? Behold and see if there be any Sorrow like unto, Israel’s sorrow which she is suffering today! And then remember the word of our Blessed Master—of Him who was born, according to the flesh, of the seed of-Abraham,'a Jew: “Inas much as ye have done it unto one of thé least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me.” ★ ★

Today, we ask Christians to help us maintain our candlestick of witness and succour to suffering Israel. We urgently need funds to operate our Hostels or Homes for Refugees in Great Britain; to give relief and other forms of 'assistance to refugees who have fled to Palestine; to others who are in internment camps in Canada; also to urgent cases of .need in South American countries and in the United States. ★ Please send your gift to:
