About Kitchen Tune-Up

Kitchen Tune-Up was founded in 1988 by David and Cindy Haglund in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Dave, having run a cabinet store since 1977, developed a system to make kitchens look and function like new without requiring a full remodel. He called it a “Kitchen Tune-Up” and began franchising the concept. As customer needs evolved, so did the company, expanding its services to include wood restoration, cabinet painting, redooring, refacing, and new cabinets which has now evolved to the 5 core services offered today. In 2003, their daughter Heidi Morrissey joined the business and became president in 2017. In 2021, Kitchen Tune-Up joined the Home Franchise Concepts family. Franchise locations are independently owned but supported by over 36 years of experience in the home improvement industry.

Creating Meaningful Memories: Christine’s Kitchen Tune-Up Story
Christine’s kitchen had been the heart of her home for over 40 years, but the outdated 1984 oak cabinets no longer reflected the warmth and functionality she wanted. She envisioned a beautiful, efficient space, and the Kitchen Tune-Up team was brought in to make it happen. “The entire Kitchen Tune-Up team worked seamlessly together,” Christine stated. From their Kitchen Consultant to Install team, they brought valuable expertise in ensuring every detail fit perfectly. “They made sure each element was installed skillfully, paying attention to details. Their craftsmanship ensured that every piece came together beautifully.” Christine appreciated how seamlessly the team worked, bringing expertise and attention to detail. She had considered custom cabinetry but found Kitchen Tune-Up’s cabinet refacing solution was exactly what she needed. With refacing, Christine could get the updated look, along with updated function without having to tear everything out. This allowed her to keep her beloved black granite countertops while updating the cabinets and backsplash. The kitchen layout was also improved, swapping the refrigerator and double ovens for better flow and repositioning island drawers for easier access while cooking. Christine was thrilled with the results: her kitchen now felt like home, offering better efficiency, storage, and a recycling center she loved. The Bergs often host gatherings, and the kitchen naturally draws people in.
