June 2025 Newsletter MAAGAZIN
Dear MAAG Americas Team:
As mentioned in the recent Townhall, I want to spend some time to explain our strategic projects in more details. This month, I will try to explain why we are focusing on a concept called “Right First Time" or RFT, and how OPEX is helping us to improve it. RFT is what is implied by the name: every business output (i.e., an engineering drawing, a quotation, a weld, an assembly, etc.) should be done correctly from the start without the need to rework. This helps us not only to reduce scrap, warranty, and other direct costs, but also reduces the time required to finish a process correctly. For example, if we realize in assembly that a part had been drawn or fabricated incorrectly, it does not only cause the direct cost to rework or remake the part but also could cause the assembly process to delay thus hurting our OTD and potentially the customer’s experience (we may ship the order late which might require the customer to change installation plans, etc.). Over the recent weeks, our OPEX team has started to implement a concept called “See” which is part of 0Dover’s foundation. You may have come across Tier boards on the shopfloors both Kent and EGR, which track daily tasks, problems, and solutions. The boards are not only giving our teams an indication if they are “winning or losing (i.e. falling behind)” but also help us catch problems and mistakes earlier in the process. As a result, we can correct mistakes when they happen and reduce negative impacts on shipping dates, on-time delivery, and quality. This not only allows us to move projects faster through the facility (i.e. lower our working capital and increase turnover) but also creates a much more positive experience for our customer! INTEGRATION NEWS The atmosphere is abuzz with anticipation in our dryer workshop as we advance toward the development of the future Carter Day 1050 dryer model. We have recently acquired the shell/tubing required for our solid rotor and have initiated the welding process this morning. The first two rotors are designated for training purposes at our EGR facility, marking a significant milestone in our production. The process entails welding the end plates and all blades to construct a solid rotor. Following the initial training phase, the procedure will transition to our Granby location, where the rotor will undergo welding and balancing once additional welders have been recruited. Subsequently, the rotor will be incorporated into the dryer housing, with its manufacturing slated to commence at the EGR facility in June.

Product Managers Successful Training Completion Duane Boothe and Carl Kelley
Congratulations to Product Managers: Duane Boothe , Compounding Product Manager, and Carl Kelley , Technical Engineering Manager, on the successful completion of a Product Management and Strategy Certificate through the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Duane and Carl recently attended a Product Manager course where they gained invaluable insights for professional growth. Below, they are sharing the most memorable ones with us. “It is vital to develop deep connections with customers to understand their evolving needs. Seemingly bright and exciting ideas are meaningless if they do not align with what the customers truly need. Without this connection, even the most innovative concepts can falter.” “Developing new products is a meticulous process that demands time and patience. It's not about rushing to market but doing things the right way, taking ownership of the product lifecycle, from conception through to market success.” “Keeping an eye on changing customer needs is imperative. The journey requires balancing innovation with improvement, actively overseeing new product development while refining the existing ones. This blend of creativity and strategic analysis is what keeps products relevant and competitive.” Duane Boothe Carl Kelley

ADKAR Event MAAG Americas team revisited the ADKAR tool for change management, which was originally introduced during Values-Based Leadership training. This refresher focused on leveraging the model to effectively guide our teams through change. The ADKAR model, a well-regarded change management framework, is designed to empower teams to successfully navigate and embrace change by addressing Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability, and Reinforcement. Rapid change continues, and we all need to be involved in creating an environment of improving processes together.
BTEC Signing Ceremony
MAAG EGR participated in BTEC (Botetourt Technical Education Center) 2025 Signing Ceremony on Monday, May 12th. Jason VanNess officially welcomed Isaiah Wright to Maag, among peers and faculty, as Isaiah is completing a successful internship. About 40 students signed employment contracts with different local companies and businesses, including MAAG Gala! We are thrilled to have Isaiah join Maag on a full- time basis! MAAG Americas is actively cultivating the next generation of skilled professionals by partnering with local technical schools and community colleges.
Townhall MAAG Americas leaders shared some insights on the company’s current successes and challenges and the strategic approach for moving forward.
100% Completion of Integrity Counts for MAAG Group! In 2024 MAAG Group achieved a 100% completion rate in Integrity Counts Trainings. The completion rate is a very important KPI for Dover as it gives a dashboard showing efforts we take to adhere to the Dover Compliance standards.
Thank you ALL for your support to achieve this great result in 2024 and we count on your continued support in 2025 to repeat this achievement!

Hobbies Each year, around May, a few employees from the MAAG EGR machine shop gather together for a fishing trip. This tradition began two years ago when Eric Godfrey, a machinist in the Die Plate area, invited some colleagues to join him. The idea originated when Eric took his family fishing, and he thought it would be a great way for employees to socialize. The group included Greg Stinnett , Elijah Patterson , and Ken Newby . Over the past two years, they have fished at two favorite spots: Rock Hollow and Hidden Gem. They typically start at 7:00 a.m. and end on a positive note, with Thomas Lythgoe joining in and catching the majority of the fish. Eric and the rest of the group also had quite a bit of success. Ken worked diligently and caught the biggest fish, while Elijah humorously mentioned that he allowed others catch the biggest fish. Eric compared Elijah to a young Jose Wales, recalling how he rode up to the fishing hole on an ape-hanger motorcycle while wearing leather chaps.
According to Elijah, Rock Hollow is the better fishing spot of the two. Greg jokingly remarked that Thomas insisted on staying until every fish in the hole was caught. He wouldn't allow anyone to use his net if they had already caught multiple fish, and Greg mentioned throwing rocks to help drive the fish into the net.
Overall, the group enjoyed their fishing outing. Thomas caught a total of 20 fish, with the largest weighing close to 5 pounds. He noted that the location allowed them to take home a maximum of 12 fish. Next year, they are planning to go again during the summer months.
