a sharing in common, but also it is a participation that is recognized and enjoyed by both parties in volved. Do we enjoy the “ fellow ship of the Spirit” (Phil. 2:1)? Je sus said, “ And I will pray the Fa ther, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth . . (John 14:16, 17). It is clear from this passage that the believ er’s body is the Spirit's abode, and that the purpose of His coming into these lives of ours is to provide companionship and fellowship. The communion of the Holy S p i r i t means that we share, or participate in His thoughts, purposes and af fections. He has come to us so that we might think His thoughts, pur sue His purposes, love what He loves and hate the things He hates. Having received life by the Spirit, we share and participate in that life. Some persons have an unscrip- tural view of fellowship with the Spirit. They think of it in terms of seclusion, away from all outward contact with the world. They go to convents and monasteries to escape communion with their fellowman. But one might live in isolation from the rest of the world and still be isolated from the Holy Spirit. A man must first be born of the Spirit before he can enjoy the fellowship of the Spirit. Now I would not for one moment minimize the daily quiet time in fellowship with the Spirit and in His Word. As a mat ter of fact, I must say that such a time is necessary to spiritual growth. The point I am making is that fellowship with the Holy Spirit does not cut off the believer from the rest of the world. On the con trary, such fellowship with Him makes the Christian a powerful in fluence for good in the world. As was shown previously, the Christian’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:9; I Cor. 3:16, 17; 6:19, 20). This means that the body must be kept clean for the Spirit’s abode and use. There are some definite Scriptures which tell us how important it is that we yield our bodies to His con trol. The Apostle Paul wrote, “ I THE KING’S BUSINESS
