some of the estimates, payroll, managing the cars and the marketing, I work both in the business and over the business,” he said. “I get here early most days as I like to be here when the teams are launched. If there’s a problem; scheduling, personnel issues, etc..; the launch is usually when it comes to light. I admit that I feel a bit guilty if I’m not here in the morning.” The team works together and Pelton is a member of that system. He is still intimately involved in the hiring process and interviews every employee hired and plays a role in new employee training. “There’s no one better than the owner to set the tone with respect to how you want new people to represent your business, ” he said. Pelton attributes the most-valuable lessons for building success to his parents. “My parents were the original owners and have been my mentors in this business. I also think we have a lot of great owners, really smart and experienced people, in the system who are willing to freely share ideas with other owners. I’ve borrowed many ideas from other owners in the system, and I’ve yet to hear of another franchise system where owners are as committed to helping one another as Molly Maid,” Pelton said. The model and the great team makes Pelton proud and able to stay engaged in his busy home life outside of Molly Maid. “I met my wife in graduate school at the

College of William and Mary. We have four kids: Carl is a junior in high school, Cora is in eighth grade, Eric is in fourth grade and we have a preschooler, Evie, who is four years old. Wendy was a stay-at-home mom for many years and she went back to nursing school and recently graduated and started working in August. Molly Maid provides me enough flexibility to juggle my other responsibilities in life,” he said. AND I’VE YET TO HEAR OF ANOTHER FRANCHISE SYSTEM WHERE OWNERS ARE AS COMMITTED TO HELPING ONE ANOTHER AS MOLLY MAID.” “MY PARENTS WERE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS AND HAVE BEEN MY MENTORS IN THIS BUSINESS. and are required to collaboratively grow the system. “By no means does that mean the committee and the Home office always agree, but I really value the way we work together. We’re open, honest and direct without being imposing. Everyone shares their opinions and is willing to be transparent,” Pelton said. “This is so important especially now since Molly Maid was purchased by Dwyer Group. Our latest discussions around the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) and franchise agreement would have been a lot harder if we didn’t that type of working relationship already in place.” As committee members to the advisory council, he said their job is to represent owners in the system. “Ultimately, I hope owners understand what’s going on by reading the minutes and reaching out to your representatives. If any owner feels strongly about a topic, I would really like to see them reach out to any of us,” he said. “We make a concerted effort to be as transparent as possible when the meeting minutes are produced and each of us are involved in reviewing them before they are published.” This service mentality to the system is apparent in his own business. “I do a lot of things in our business from
