Wilkins was also the publisher of the N.A.A.C.P.'s journal, The Crisis. Wilkins contributed editorials for the Washington Post and the New York Times for many years and was a frequent guest and commentator on TV net- work news shows. He taught history at George Mason University. George Ma- son University formally honored Wilkins by dedicating the Johnson Center North Plaza. Wilkins passed in 2017. Lt. Col. John L. Williams II (Sigma 2000) Currently serving in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) as the Sustainment Branch Head Officer in the G-4. He is responsible for the investment and sustainment of all sup- ply classes, charged with maintaining ground military equipment, unit, and individual equipment readiness. Lt. Col. Williams has received the Navy and Marine Corps Commenda- tion Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He received his B.A. from U-M. Lt. Col. Williams is a Life Member and a member of the Carlsbad-Laguna-Temecula (CA) Alumni Chapter. Dr. Vernon B. Williams (Sigma 1986) A Los Angeles area-based neurologist, Williams is a graduate of the Univer- sity of Michigan's prestigious Inteflex Accelerated Pre-Medical-Medical Program, completed undergraduate and Medical School degrees in seven years. He earned an M.D. degree from U-M in 1992. Williams is the founding director of the Center for Sports Neurology and Pain Medicine at the Cedars-Sinai Ker- lan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, CA. He served as the team neurologist for the NFL franchise Los Angeles Rams. He also serves as a neurological medical consultant to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Lak- ers, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, and Los Angeles
