Upon his retirement, the Superior Court Trial Lawyers honored Gilchrist with a reception and award of commendation for his work with the disadvantaged and underprivileged in Washington, DC. Brother Ronald Gilchrist is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jo- seph, Jr. Gay Jay), Jerome and Leonard; and one sister, Dorothy. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; son, Giamar; grand- daughter, Gia Brave stepson, Walter Hill Jr.; stepdaughter, Heather Hill; two sisters, Vernell Chase and Shirlene Dou- glass; one sister-in-law, Velma Gilchrist; three aunts, Paulene Johnson, Geneva (Doll) Herring, and Maggie (tiny) Gor- don; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Follow- ing his graduation from SAC in 1971, Gilcud attended St. Gregory's College, now St. Gregory's University, in Shaw- nee, OK, where he was two-time Na- tional Junior College All-American. He attended the University of Minnesota. Gilcud played two seasons for the Gold- en Gophers basketball team averaging 5.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. His Golden Gopher teammates included Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy, future NBA head coach Flip Saunders, and future NBA player and fellow Bahamian Mychal Thompson. First Bahamian athlete to play basketball in the Big Ten Conference. He also played locally in the Bahamas for the Old Oaks and Beckss Cougars. He represented the Bahamas at the Pan American Games, CAC Games, and numerous other international competi- tions. An accomplished powerlifter, he won many medals. He is a former chairman of the world Famous Saxons Super Stars Junkanoo Group and a founding member of the JCNP - Junk- anoo Corporation New Providence. He has assisted numerous Bahamians in obtaining collegiate scholarships in the United States. Bahamian Minister of Education, Jeffery Lloyd “remembered Gilcud as being one of the first black Certified Financial Analysts in the country. Gilcud was ‘a centerpiece of the renowned Beck’s Cougars, a true Bahamian patriot, junk- anoo leader, one of the first (maybe only) Bahamians to have a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Amazing talent all around.” Bahamas Basketball Federation presi- dent Mario Bowleg on the passing of Gilcud, "There is no other like 'The Macaroni.' Yes, he will always be a basketball icon but memories of his total contribution to nation-building must not be overlooked. His was a pioneering spirit that never diminished.” Brother Peter Gilcud is survived by six children, Dhaska, Diana, Jeremy, Pachino, Charles ‘CJ’ (Peter Alexander),
and Fayne.
Jerome W. Godwin 1965-2021 Religoius Leader, Law Enforcement, Community Servant Jerome W.
Godwin (Epsi- lon Mu 1976), transitioned to
Chapter Invisible on Thursday, 12 August 2021 in Clermont, Florida at the age of 65. Jerome was born
July 23, 1956, the fifth of 7 children to the late Reverend Roscoe and Jimmie C. Godwin in Waycross, Georgia. His family moved to Clermont, Florida in December 1956 and then to Groveland in 1968. He attended Lake County public schools and graduated from Groveland High School in 1974, where he served as senior class president. He continued his education at Florida Memorial Col- lege (University), Miami, Florida where he majored in Criminal Justice. During his time at Florida Memorial College, Jerome served as Dean of Pledges of Epsilon Mu Chapter. He held other positions in college activities as Presi- dent of the Gospel Choir, Chaplain of the Black Students Union and Treasurer of the senior class. Upon graduation in 1979 Brother Godwin attended the J. C. Stone Police Academy in Orlando, Florida. After graduation, he was hired by the Kissim- mee Police Department in December 1980. Jerome served in various divisions within the Kissimmee Police Depart- ment up to the position of Master Police Officer. He retired from the Kissimmee Police Department in February 2011 after 30 years of service. He remained active with the Kissimmee Police De- partment serving as a Reserve Officer until August 2014. His main area of interest was Traffic Enforcement and School Resource Officer duties. Jerome held various certifications pertaining to School Safety and Traffic Homicide
Peter A. Gilcud 1953-2021 Collegiate Basketball Player, Community Leader Affectionately
known in his na- tive Bahamas as 'Macaroni' or 'the Cud, Peter Gilcud (Psi 1975) entered the Chapter Invisible on June 3, 2021, at age
67. In the Bahamas, Peter Gilcud was a sports legend, cultural icon, com- munity builder, and a 2018 inductee of the Bahamian National Athletic Hall of Fame. The Bahamas Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. released the following statement on social media after the announcement of Gilcud’s passing. “A legend in Bahamian Kappa circles, a sporting icon, a popular figure in the Junkanoo community, and an advocate for the blind and the disabled; Gilcud’s presence will certainly be missed.” Born in the Bahamas on September 13, 1953, Gilcud moved to New Providence
