GENERAL GUIDELINES Experiment! Metal finishing and coloring effects are more an acquired skill than instructional learning. As a general rule, when using metal finishes, the product performance is vastly improved if you start with clean metal. The composition of the metal will greatly alter the effects you can produce. For instance, although stainless steel is indeed a type of steel, the addition of molybdenum negates the ability of our products to react with that metal. Nickel, aluminum, zinc, etc. as a part of the alloy, will alter or negate the products ability to perform. Atmospheric conditions will also alter the effects. After experimentation, when a desired effect is achieved, stick to that process every time.
