DRIFT (UK 15/ROI 15A, 93 mins)

Released: March 29 (UK & Ireland, selected cinemas)

The enduring power of the human spirit stands firm in the face of trauma in a moving drama directed by Anthony Chen, which is adapted from Alexander Maksik’s novel A Marker To Measure Drift.

The film marks the English language debut of Singaporean filmmaker Chen, who won the coveted Camera d’Or prize at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival with his debut feature, Ilo Ilo.

Penniless Liberian refugee Jacqueline (Cynthia Erivo) lands on a Greek island, hoping to escape painful memories of her war-torn nation.

Far from home, Jacqueline copes with her past on her own but the scars are deep.

An unexpected and tender friendship with directionless tour guide Callie (Alia Shawkat) is a soothing balm and inspires the refugee to muster the resilience she needs to forge ahead.

Honor Swinton Byrne from The Souvenir co-stars.
