“It’s a very tight project timeline, and due to supply chain issues involving other trades and material deliveries, we’ve had to alter our own design and installation in progress, while fabrication is occurring, which requires an incredible amount of coordination between our design team and the installation team on site,” Lennon said. Lennon commends the work of lead project manager Jesse Clark and field leader Derek O’Brien, in keeping the project on track. “The entire team is working hard to minimize change orders and provide the best solutions to minimize cost and maximize production in a dynamic, fast-paced environment,” Lennon said. WSFP will have installed approximately 10,000 sprinkler heads across multiple new buildings encompassing 2.4 million square feet of manufacturing space by the time it completes project work in early 2023.
Western States Fire Protection Co. (WSFP) began work in summer 2021 on a large new-build project involving a production plant expansion in Arizona for an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer. The Centennial, Colo.- based APi Group company is working closely with two general contracting firms that formed a joint venture in order to build a major expansion of the EV maker’s production site. WSFP is providing design and building information modeling coordination services and installing fire sprinkler systems on the project. “While we’ve done work in the EV automotive field before, this is the first project that we’ve done installations for involving new facilities. The project is also unique for its scope and short timeline,” said Rowe Lennon, area manager for the Phoenix/Tucson office of WSFP. “The entire team is working hard to minimize change orders and provide the best solutions to minimize cost and maximize production in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.” — Rowe Lennon, WSFP Phoenix/ Tucson office area manager Lennon attributes the customer win to WSFP’s track record and the customer’s familiarity from previously working with other APi Group companies. In order to meet the volume of design required at a rapid pace, the WSFP Phoenix/Tucson branch enlisted the resources of its company’s Design Center located in Rapid City, S.D.
