CHELSEA BARRACKS - DEVELOPMENT TIMELINE
A key part of the General Manager’s role will be to ensure that the current and next phases at Chelsea Barracks are managed in a customer focused way, exceeding occupier and customer expectations, while attracting and retaining occupiers and business; in turn enhancing the assets. The successful candidate should have a clear overview of future phases and their mobilisation, to enable operational infrastructure and successful management. PHASE 1 The inaugural phase of this historic development, consent for the designs by architects, Squire and Partners, was granted in May 2014. Made-up of three residential buildings (8 Whistler Square, 9 Whistler Square, 1 Mulberry Square), Phase 1 comprises 64 apartments ranging from 1 - 6 bedrooms, and three penthouses. PHASE 2 Phase 2 consists of 13 townhouses designed by PDP London architects. Arranged across six-floors and inspired by their Georgian predecessor, each home ranges between 5 - 7 bedrooms, complete with private spa, amenities and roof terrace. Seven townhouses line Whistler Square and six townhouses flank Mulberry Square. PHASE 3A Designed by lauded architect, Ben Pentreath, Phase 3a draws inspiration from Sir John Soane’s stable building at the neighbouring Royal Hospital Chelsea. Its stunning brick arches and domes form a discreet and unique Mews house at one side, with a beautiful restaurant building at the other. The Campaner, provides all-day dining with Barcelona soul, complete with alfresco dining along Garrison Square. PHASE 3B At the heart of Chelsea Barracks is Garrison Square (Phase 3B), comprising a retail boutique and Chapel, flanked by The Campaner Restaurant. Famed jeweller, Theo Fennell, takes residence here along with the last remaining building from the original Army Barracks, The Garrison Chapel. Historically known as The Guard’s Chapel and completed in 1859, it was restored to preserve its Romanesque-Byzantine architectural heritage and Grade II listed. It is now home to The Prince’s Foundation. Phases 1-3 were completed and launched in May 2019.
