Layering Light Sources The key to your kitchen lighting is layering a number of different sources of light. Multiple light sources lends a three dimensional feel and helps you to create the mood you want, with each source able to be controlled individually so that the scheme can create anything from the feeling of bright daylight to an intimate atmosphere over dinner. Task Lighting Task lighting is important to illuminate your most used work spaces such as bench tops and islands. These lights should be considerably brighter than elsewhere in the room. Often times, this will require lighting fixtures that can be installed under wall cabinets, beneath shelving, or on the wall behind the work surface. Darker spaces such as pantries can also benefit from additional lighting, illuminating corners and making it easier to find items. Automatic sensors are a good option for these areas, with lights turning on and off as the door opens or closes. Ambient Lighting Mood lighting allows you to change the ambience of the kitchen from a practical preparation zone to a relaxed entertaining space. Strip lighting around toe-kicks on an island unit or breakfast bar gives the illusion of floating furniture and an impressive finishing touch to your kitchen, or if you have an interesting feature that you’d like to highlight, consider accent lighting that can be used to focus on a particular area or design element in the room.

This contemporary option requires no aluminium profile or trim and can be press-fitted without glue or adhesives into curved milled grooves or rings (minimum radius 15mm), making it a superb choice for decorative lighting installations. About Flexyled HE6B Pro & SHE6B Pro Flexyled HE6B and Flexyled SHE6B are flexible pre-wired LED strip options that are just 6mm wide, with a very slim clip on the cable. Both are supplied with a high adherence 3M adhesive base so they may be surface mounted or integrated into profiles with a removable diffuser. Both are IP20 rated and are designed with reinforced soldered power supply cable terminals to ensure good solidity. The Difference? HE6B (High Emission) has 120 LEDs/m and may be divided every 50mm. SHE6B (Super High Emission) has 180 LEDs/m and may be divided every 33mm. It is ideal when you require stronger light or are integrating into a profile with a dark diffuser such as our Domus Line Apex Dark. TOM Micro Touch Switch Aluminium Colour An electronic micro touch switch designed for recessed installation. Use TOM to turn lights off and on with a quick touch or, with a longer touch, use it as a dimmer to control brightness. Brightness level is ‘remembered’ for when lights are next turned on. CAPSENS 2.0 Concealed Touch Dimmer Switch Aluminium Colour Concealed electronic capacitive sensor switch designed for recessed installation behind most non-metallic materials. With an activation area of 50mm, contact with your hand on the surface below which Capsens is installed, will turn lights on or off. Longer contact activates the dimmer funtion for light intensity, with a short flash showing maximum level has been reached. Capsens retains that level in memory until you reset it. Effective behind wood up to 30mm thick, glass up to 12mm thick and plastic up to 20mm thick. GIRO Remote Control Switch With Multi Receiver/Multi Transmitter Options Black GIRO F (DOM741) is a one-channel remote control for managing single-colour 24VDC LED luminaires powered by the GIRO E receiving unit. GIRO F (DOM741) is used for on/off and for brightness control, either step by step or by loop mode smooth control from 10% to 100%. GIRO can be used with up to 6 receiver units (DOM742) and can also be installed with up to 4 control units (DOM741) to control the same LED lighting circuit.
IR 2.0 FC Dual Function Electronic Proximity Switch IR 2.0 FC may be used as a door switch or as a non-contact on/off switch. It may be surface mounted or recessed. By pressing the microswitch for 3 seconds, you can also transform IR2.0 FC into a dimmer switch. CM1-XD Control Module For IR and PIR Door Sensors for use with X-Driver CM1-XD (DOM791) is a control module for X-Driver that activates two outputs for infra-red switches and back of door sensors. POLY: Multiple Sensor Electronic Control System POLY is a multiple sensor electronic control system for LED luminaires. The electronic control module, only 18 mm thick, is connected between the power supply and the lamps (both 12Vdc and 24Vdc), and can host up to 3 sensors of the various Domus Line models available: infra-red proximity sensors and pyrolytic presence sensors. If you wish to control just 2 sensors, MINI POLY is the solution for you. The control module integrates a set-up button with which the function can be modified at any time – from back-of-door sensor to switch.
POLY: PIR Motion Sensor The PIR sensor for POLY switches on when someone moves inside the detection field and, after approximately 180 seconds with no movement, automatically switches off the luminaires connected to the control module, even if the door remains open. POLY: IR Door Back Proximity Sensor or Dimmable Touch Switch The IR sensor for POLY – in limit-switch mode – turns on the luminaires when the door is opened. With the on-off and dimmer set-up, the IR sensors are switched on and off and the brightness of the luminaires can be adjusted simply by moving a hand near the sensor. Degrees of Protection Ratings IP Ratings are otherwise known as ‘Ingress Protection Rating’ are used to define levels of sealing effectiveness against foreign bodies such as dirt and moisture. You will often see IP followed by 2 numbers (IP00), the first number in an IP rating is the level of protection against solids such as dust and the second number indicates the level of protection against water, e.g. IP(dust protection level, water protection level). Sometimes there is the third digit used – normally an ‘x’. This is when only one rating is being addressed, e.g. IPx4 is only referencing the moisture rating. According to the EN 60529 classification system:

Solids Rating 1 No protection 2 Protected against solid objects over 50mm in size, e.g. large tools 3 Protected against solid objects over 12mm in size, e.g. fingers 4 Protected against solid objects over 2.5mm in size, e.g.wires and small tools 5 Protected against solid objects over 1mm in size, e.g.wires and bugs 6 Limited protection against dust ingress; harmful amounts can’t get in 7 Protected against dust ingress; dust can’t get in EXAMPLE: An IP Rating of IP65 will be protected against dust ingress and strong jets of water from all directions

Bathroom Zoning Now you know what your IP Rating means, it’s time to talk bathroom zones. Your bathroom is divided into 4 zones. Below is a guide to figure out which zone your light can sit within based on your IP Rating. Zone 0: Inside the bath or shower. Any lighting used must have a minimum rating of IP67. Zone 1: Above the bath or shower to a height of 2.25m. A minimum rating of IP44 is required. Zone 2: The area stretching to 0.6m outside the bath or shower and above the bath and above the bath or shower if over 2.25m. A minimum IP Rating of IP44 is required. Outside the zones: Anywhere beyond zones 0, 1 and 2 where water jets are not used for cleaning purposes.
