Safety Stand Down is a key date in the Aptus calendar and we kicked off 2024 with events in Bolton, Newcastle and Cannock. The event gathers our 300+ workforce together to hear an update from the directors on the company’s performance and ambitions for the year ahead. Health & Safety is top of the agenda and as well as looking at our performance over the previous year, colleagues are invited to share ideas for safety improvements. We hope that by reinforcing messages around health and safety we can continue to drive our high standards. Driving is one of the most high-risk activities our employees undertake, so we invited Road Risk Consultant, Andrew Drewary from Road Safety Smart, to deliver driver awareness training. He was joined by Specialist Criminal & Road Regulatory Lawyer, Charlotte Le Maire, from LMP Legal. The presentation included an interactive element in which audience members were invited to wear a virtual reality headset which simulates the effects of being under the influence of alcohol. This was an effective aid in showing how alcohol negatively affects our perceptions and ability to perform simple tasks.
With around 200 vehicles in our fleet the session was an informative and engaging way to raise awareness of the risks our drivers face and their legal rights. We were delighted to see so many of the team participating in the interactive activities at the North West event and look forward to rolling the training out to all our depots.
Aptus App launches
We are thrilled to launch our new Aptus Employee App! The user-friendly, employee-only app brings together employer information on one platform, giving colleagues access to a wealth of information.
The platform also allows two-way communication in several areas, including allowing employees to make suggestions for improvements and nominating colleagues for recognition. We have received positive feedback so far and will continue to look at ways we can develop the app to support our business needs in future.
