APTUS CONNECTIONS ISSUE 16 - FUTURE-PROOFING APTUS

Q: Why did you join the Aptus Academy? A: I was looking to improve my knowledge, albeit later in my career than most who joined the academy, and saw it as a good opportunity to progress. Q: What would you say to someone considering joining the Aptus Academy? A: I would highly recommend joining as Aptus is a company that always puts your best interests first. No stone is left unturned, and the highest quality training is provided. Q: Tell us about the journey you’ve gone on at Aptus? A: I initially started at Aptus ten years ago as a pressure tester/chlorinator. The function was originally outsourced but I built it up over a period of two years and also helped to train three members of staff. It was a successful department which I was proud to have overseen. Following this however I felt like I needed a change and became a trainee water designer – a completely different path to the one I’d started down! After that I qualified as a water designer before being appointed as a team leader in the Midlands. The changes didn’t end there What I’ve Learnt In each edition of Connections, we catch up with a member of the team to learn more about their experiences at Aptus and find out what they’ve learnt along the way. Here we speak to regional design manager, Liam Pearson , who joined Aptus in 2014 and will be celebrating ten years with the company in April. Liam was also enrolled into Aptus Academy when it launched in 2022.

though, as following a restructure in the design department, I became design manager for region 2 in the North West. It’s been a great journey so far. Q: What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry? A: I’d say it’s really important to be open-minded when approaching all utilities and to try and take in as much information as possible from all aspects of the business. From estimating all the way through to operations and understanding the processes involved, it’s really helpful to keep learning. Q: What are your aims and objectives for the next ten years? A: To help Aptus grow within the industry and be a part of the company’s expansion across the country. I’m also passionate about helping to further improve the processes within the water sector, in-line with the latest needs of the industry. Q: And finally, what do you enjoy doing outside of work? A: I have two daughters – aged two and six – who I love spending time with along with my fiancée. I also regularly watch Preston North End and enjoy going to the gym.
