UMESHU Umeshu is a sweet Japanese liqueur made by steeping the Japanese plum, ‘ume’ in sugar and a spirit, usually shōchū. Umeshu is also known as plum wine but is a liqueur. The Japanese often make umeshu at home. The taste of umeshu is sweet and sour and can be enjoyed straight up, on the rocks, with a splash of water or in a cocktail.
