A new publication offers specific guidance for engineers complying with carbon monoxide detection regulations in Northern Ireland. The guide has been created by the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC) and Council of Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring (CoGDEM), following several regulatory changes creating differing requirements across the regions of the UK. It provides best practice for each region, addressing potential confusion among engineers around the variation in CO legalisation across NI, England, Wales and Scotland. The role of heating engineers in maintaining CO safety throughout the industry is growing in importance, with all property owners required to ensure CO detectors are present in appropriate locations in compliance with legislation. Differing requirements - including the number of CO detectors required in a property, batteries that must be used and the position in which detectors must be installed - are included in the guide. Andy Curtis, Director of CoGDEM, said, “There may still be confusion around the extent of responsibility of repairing, replacing and testing detectors. Our guide has been created to put this uncertainty to rest and ensure safety in properties across the UK.” www.hhic.org.uk GUIDE OUTLINES CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTION REQUIREMENTS IN NORTHERN IRELAND

FLOGAS-SPONSORED GALWAY CORINTHIANS RFC U20S MAKE HISTORY
Galway Corinthians U20s have entered the history books as the first- ever non-Leinster team to both win the U20s Leinster Div 2 League and receive an invitation to play in the upcoming Leinster U20s Division 1 McCorry Cup. Sponsored by Flogas for a third season, Commercial Director John O’Donoghue was in attendance to witness the historic win. John said, “The Galway Corinthians Under 20s team play all their away games in Leinster, and this involves a great deal of commitment and travel from everyone involved. “We’re delighted that all the hard work
and dedication have yielded such a great result for them and that they’re blazing a trail for other Connacht clubs to follow. “However, their success wouldn’t have been achieved without the equal commitment of the backroom staff, coaches Anthony Leifi and Morgan Ó Conghaile with team manager Maggie Newell, and we wish them all the best of luck for next season.” Flogas also sponsors several other rugby clubs around Ireland, Randalstown RFC in Antrim, DLS Palmerstown RFC in Dublin and Dungarvan RFC in Waterford. www.flogas.ie
