RECRUITMENT

TACTICAL TALENT RECRUITMENT IS WELL NETWORKED IN THE PLUMBING AND HEATING INDUSTRY, WITH A THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF ITS ROLES, SAYS FOUNDER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR VINNY KELLY… Generating a robust talent pipeline

Tactical Talent has been a specialist recruiter in the plumbing and heating, hardware, KBB and DIY industries since 2015. I founded the business after 20 years working internationally in various marketing and client service roles. Finding the right talent for my team was always something I enjoyed and spent a lot of time doing. In establishing Tactical Talent, I wanted to offer clients a bespoke recruitment service, which focused on developing long-term relationships with them. The ultimate goal is to really understand their business, their culture and their goals, in order to refine the talent that I bring to them. Iseult McLaughlin joined the team in 2021, having spent 10 years working in HR, advising senior leadership teams on their talent acquisition strategy along with ensuring her business units had a robust talent pipeline. We are extremely well networked in the plumbing and heating industry and have a thorough knowledge of the roles within it. We work with many of the leading brands to help them secure talent. Our main long-term objective is to be the recruiter of choice within the industry, a trusted partner dedicated to finding the best talent for your team. The plumbing and heating sector plays a vital role in creating and sustaining both residential and commercial infrastructure. However, like many industries, it faces its own set of challenges in relation to recruitment. As the country sees demographic shifts, technological advancements and evolving consumer demands, the landscape of talent acquisition within this sector is

“Navigating the recruitment climate in Ireland’s

plumbing and heating sector requires an

approach that addresses both immediate challenges and long-term strategic requirements.”

Vinny Kelly.

Embracing a potential-based hiring approach involves shifting the emphasis from past achievements to future capabilities. In addition to the scarcity of skilled labour, there is also an evolution of the type of skills and expertise that are needed in the industry. The rise of eco- friendly solutions and smart technologies has prompted a shift towards more sustainable and energy-efficient practices and product offerings. Consequently, employers are seeking candidates with specialised knowledge in areas such as renewable energy systems, green building technologies, and digital plumbing solutions. As the industry continues to evolve, recruitment strategies must adapt to accommodate these changing skill requirements, ensuring a steady supply of talent equipped to meet the demands of the modern market. Ultimately, navigating the recruitment climate in Ireland’s plumbing and heating sector requires an approach that

addresses both immediate challenges and long-term strategic requirements. Promoting the industry as an attractive career choice, embracing technological innovation and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion are just a few steps towards building a robust and resilient talent pipeline. At Tactical Talent, we are in a position to advise you on the competition in the market for specific roles, the possibility of prioritising potential over experience, and we conduct thorough interviews with all candidates before introducing them to you. This enables us to offer you a summary of each candidate’s profile, potential and experience before you meet them in person. Identifying high potential candidates is something that keeps our clients coming back to us. undergoing a transformation. One of the foremost challenges

confronting recruitment in the sector is the shortage of experienced industry professionals. Employers are now finding themselves having to take a new approach to recruitment, and instead of solely recruiting based on experience,

some companies are now hiring candidates for their potential.
