B u s in e s s , there was a note of praise going up for the open doors, tlje sowing of precious seed, the grace and strength suf ficient to keep pegging away, which were in evidence all through the past month, but there was also a feeling of sadness at the unmistakable turning away and rejection of the Gospel and giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons, so mark edly characteristic of the closing days of this present evil age. ' We have looked into the faces of men who have since departed to be with Christ (which is far better), or else are now lift ing up their eyes in hell, being in torment; we have told out the sweetest old love mes sage to which the world has ever listened, and witnessed the many turn away with absolute unconcern and indifference ; but still He gives more grace and heart and courage to go on the little while longer till “He that shall come will come and will not tarry.” Some handfuls of purpose have been let fall along our path. Here is one, ‘the story of a single tract, which will encour age you to go and do likewise. The inci dent of handing out the tract left no impres sion upon us, and we cannot even recall whether a heart prayer went up with it, as should always be the case ; but, at any rate, after many days, a lady remarked to the writer’s wife that she knew a con ductor who had accepted a tract from us, which refuted the false teaching of Chris tian Science. Wasn’t it 1 gracious of the dear Lord to bring the bread, cast upon the waters, back after many days? We are having fine old times in some of the engine houses with the fire laddies. God grant us to increase the more in strength and confound the unbelievers, proving to their hearts that this is the very Christ, to the' salvation of our boys and the glory of God. We went into another house three weeks ago. The man and wife had spoken hardly a civil word to each other for weeks. Poor soul, her face was enough to frighten one, bitter, despondent, filled with hard, revengeful thoughts and designs. The atmosphere of that place (you couldn’t call it a home), was heavily charged with sul phurous fumes. The husband started to leave without a word of recognition to his wife, but we blocked the way. He was a great big fel low, but God made him go back like a whipped cur and kiss that little wife before he could pass us. The mental struggle was fierce, but the victory when it did finally come was all the greater. We stopped in today and you really would not have believed that it could be the same place. That little woman Was so bright, cheery and happy, and the secret of it all was just prevailing prayer and the constraining love of Christ. O, that God may drive us to qur knees more and more in these awful times when
