Back in Cougar Territory CBC Welcomes Ryan Benitez as Head Baseball Coach

C oastal Bend College Athletics is proud to introduce Ryan Benitez as the new head coach of the baseball program. Benitez returns to CBC after a successful two- year tenure as an assistant coach at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU, NCAA Div. II), where

With experience as the head coach of the San Antonio Titans in the Centex Collegiate League during the summer of 2017 and two seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Benitez's coaching journey is distinguished. As a former pitcher for the Texas A&M University- Kingsville Javelinas, Benitez's outstanding performances contributed to the team's regular- season Lone Star Conference championships in 2013, 2014, and 2015. His achievements earned him recognition as a 1st Team All-Lone Star Conference selection in 2015 and finalist for the Brett Tomko Award. Benitez's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M-Kingsville. To kickstart his tenure at Coastal Bend College, Benitez is hosting a summer evaluation camp at Joe Hunter Field. The college and the local community eagerly anticipate a bright future for the baseball program under his leadership.

he played a pivotal role in their foundational success. As a New Braunfels native, Benitez is excited to be back in South Texas, closer to home, family, and friends. He brings a wealth of coaching experience and aspirations for success both on the field and in the classroom. During his time at ENMU, Benitez helped lead the Greyhounds to an impressive overall record of 23- 28 and a program-record 21-26 in conference wins. Under his guidance, the team achieved postseason success, making their fifth appearance in the Lone Star Conference Tournament. Notably, they led the nation and conference in triples, highlighting Benitez's expertise in player development. Prior to his stint at ENMU, Benitez made significant contributions as the head assistant baseball coach, pitching coach, and recruiting coordinator at Coastal Bend College. His coaching prowess led the Cougars to their first-ever NJCAA Division III South District Regional Championship, NJCAA Division III South District Super-Regional Championship, and NJCAA Division III World Series appearance in 2021.
