Provide constructive feedback on the participants’ performance during the practice
The participants shall:
Practise how to correctly attach a fall arrest lanyard and glider/slider to a harness
ELEMENT 9.2 - CORRECT ATTACHMENT AND DETACHMENT
Learning objective:
40) The participants can perform the correct attachment of any guided type fall arrester to the matching vertical anchor line (e.g. cable, rail or wire) (Skills, intermediate level)
41) The participants can perform safely and correctly use a vertical fall arrest system while working at height (Skills, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Explain the importance of personal safety when at heights during a supervised visit to a WTG
Demonstrate how to attach and detach the guide type fall arrester to the vertical anchor line
Explain that the symbol or indication for correct orientation in use of a given guided type fall arrester may not indicate the climbing direction, and that the equipment should always be used according to equipment manufacture’s user manual Demonstrate how to correctly use a vertical fall arrest system, including testing prior commencing climbing if the fall arrester operates and locks correctly according to equipment manufacture’s user manual
Facilitate practical exercises for the participants covering the scenarios presented in this element
Provide constructive feedback on the participants’ performance during the practice
The participants shall:
Practise and demonstrate the ability to correctly attach and detach a random guided type fall arrester to the vertical anchor line (prior to the practical exercises lesson of the Onshore Limited Access module) Practise and demonstrate the ability to correctly use a vertical fall arrest system, including testing prior to commencing climbing if the fall arrester operates and locks correctly according to equipment manufacturer’s user manual
