deceleration distance (fall distance)
HH

C

safety factor
The value for HH represents the length of the suspended worker after a fall and includes factors such as the height of the person and harness stretch. To account for these variables, HH is set to 2.00 m. Using HH (2.00 m), together with the maximum allowed values for LL (2.00 m) and DD (1.75 m), and the minimum allowed value for C (1.00 m), gives: 𝑅𝑅𝑅𝑅 = 𝐿𝐿𝐿𝐿 + 𝐷𝐷𝐷𝐷 + 𝐻𝐻𝐻𝐻 + 𝐶𝐶 𝑅𝑅𝑅𝑅 =2.00 𝑚𝑚 +1.75 𝑚𝑚 +2.00 𝑚𝑚 +1.00 𝑚𝑚 , 𝑅𝑅𝑅𝑅 =6.75m GWO therefore recommends that anchor points used during evacuation exercises are placed at a minimum height of 6.75 m above the ground, or above any structure a person could come into contact with, in the event of a fall. Equipment standards All equipment used during this GWO training module shall meet or exceed the minimum requirements of the national standards listed in Table A1.1. When working in a country where there is no applicable national standard then the equipment shall meet or exceed the minimum requirements of the European standards.
