MIYC October 2017

Marco Island Yacht Club

Greetings, everyone! What a month we have had after Irma’s unwelcomed visit. I hope you all endured with minimal damage to your property and vessels. As we all realize, she had quite an impact, if not directly but indirectly to our Yacht Club family. Directly, our Club survived with minimal damage. Indirectly,

Be sure to make your dinner reservations after the Cruise. It is always a beautiful night so plan to attend. Boater’s Night will begin on October 11 th . Jeff assures me that he has a great line up of programs and it is always a good evening, so watch for eblasts with more information. It is never too early to make your reservations at the Club and plan to attend. November Boater’s Night has been changed to November 8 because of the scheduled extended Cruise to Key West. Our Day Cruise Schedule has also been effected by Irma including the Dec 18 Day Cruise to Goodland. Details will be coming from Chip as details are still pending. At this time, we’ll see who can accommodate us for lunch. Stay tuned! Sailing Fleet Captain, Chuck has submitted the info for upcoming regatta registrations. See his article. You should watch for the Small Boat Sailing Schedule to also be a part of this fun event. We are always looking for Captains for our Beach Parties and Kayak Tours . Please let me know if you want to host one of these events. Welcome back for those who are returning, I look forward to seeing you all again and sharing Irma stories. Thanks to all thoughts and prayers which helped protect us with limited damage. Smooth Sailing, Commodore Lois Dixon

some of our FCYC Clubs didn’t fare so well. This affects us with our Extended Cruises and FCYC meetings that have been planned for this upcoming season. Be sure to check our FCYC Representative Ray Rosenberg’s columns in the future for FCYC Club Status. Right now, our Extended Cruise Captains, Pete and Peggy Frazier are following up with the various destinations and are waiting for reports if our destinations will be on schedule. Watch for updated reports for our Oct 30 – Nov 3 trip to Key West since the Keys got hit hard by Irma. Other cruises might include new destinations so please watch all the information as it comes through the eblasts as well as on the Calendar on the website. Visit www.marcoislandyachtclub.net to see all the changes to our Website. It will be very useful for upcoming Yachting activities. Check it and use it often. Our upcoming Sunset Cruises are scheduled as usual, October 25 and November 29. Put them on your calendar and plan to attend by calling Bob Winterhalter.
