13. WORKING AT HEIGHT INITIAL TRAINING
13.1 Aims and Objectives of Working at Height Initial Training The aim of this training is to enable participants, through both theoretical and practical training, to use personal protective equipment, work safely at height, and perform basic rescue operations from height in a remote wind turbine environment.
After successfully completing Working at Height Initial Training participants have the ability to:
1) Take responsibility when working at height using personal protective equipment and performing basic rescue operations from height in a remote wind turbine environment (Ability, intermediate level)
This course is not designed to test the participants’ capability and aptitude for working at height, e.g. it is not a test for fear of height or designed to overcome fear of height

13.2 Duration of Working at Height Initial Training
The total contact time for completing this training is estimated to be 14 hours and 25 minutes. The training provider must not exceed the times per day given in the table below.

Contact time includes delivery of course lesson contents, practical exercises and activities directly related to these. The total training day includes contact time, meals, breaks and travel between training sites (where applicable)

13.3 Working at Height Initial Training Participant Ratio The ratio shown for theory sessions indicates the maximum number of participants per instructor attending the course. The ratio shown for practical indicate the maximum number of participants to be supervised by an instructor during each activity.
When participants are split into pairs for practical activities, it is recommended to have one instructor for every two ladders. This ratio may be adjusted, based on the didactical design of the activities and the findings of the local training risk assessment
