ELEMENT 6.6 - FALL ARREST LANYARDS

Learning objectives:

43) The participants can explain the differences between different fall arrest lanyards, as well as the different ways they are used (Knowledge, intermediate level)

44) The participants can perform double-hook climbing using their fall arrest lanyards correctly and safely (Skills, intermediate level)

The instructor shall:

Show examples of, and explain the differences between fall arrest lanyards as well as the different ways of using and observing the manufacturer’s user guidelines

Demonstrate safe double-hook climbing using fall arrest lanyards with emphasis on maintaining the lowest possible fall factor, while addressing clearance distance when climbing close to the ground

Provide constructive feedback on the participants’ performance during practice

The participants shall:

Practise how to correctly use fall arrest lanyards while working at height during practical exercises

Practise how to correctly use fall arrest lanyards, while double hook climbing, maintaining the correct distance between anchor points

ELEMENT 6.7 - APPROVED ANCHOR POINTS FOR ATTACHMENT

Learning objective:

45) The participants can explain approved anchor points (Knowledge, intermediate level)

The instructor shall:

Explain approved anchor points for fall arrest attachment by considering certified anchor points and structural anchor points (e.g. ladder stiles, reinforced ladder rungs, gearbox lifting eyes)
