The instructor shall:

Explain safe behaviour in connection with evacuation

Provide constructive feedback on the participants’ performance during the practice

The participants shall:

Practise the ability to perform a passive mode and active setup evacuation from height using full PFPE and a random evacuation device (demonstrated during this training)

Practise the ability to disconnect the device after reaching the ground level

Practise the ability to use techniques like attaching equipment to their harness to reduce the risk of dropped objects

During evacuation scenarios, participants not performing the exercise shall remain at ground level in a safe area, where they can practice setting up and rigging the evacuation equipment

Note

An instructor shall be positioned at the descent point, and both instructor(s) and participants shall remain secured to an anchor point using a fall arrest lanyard while waiting

When participants demonstrate the evacuation, they shall also be connected to additional fall protection, set up and controlled by the instructor, and secured to a separate anchor point from the evacuation device

Although not required by this training, participants may repeat the evacuation exercise if time allows

LESSON 12 - PFPE REVIEW

The aim of this lesson is to introduce the participants to the individual parts of the PFPE equipment and enable them to use the PFPE safely. This lesson is intended to be a recap suitable for the beginning of day two of a training.

After having successfully completed this lesson, the participants can:

78) Discuss the individual parts of the PFPE equipment, the correct pre-use inspection and use of the PFPE (Knowledge, intermediate level)
