Safety training
GWO Basic Safety Training / V20 10032026
Throughout the facilitation of the scenarios, the instructor should strive to ensure that the focus remains on the performance levels required in real work settings, whilst linking activities and learning to the specified tasks and procedures defined by the scenario work instructions. The instructors should step back and intervene if a safety concern arises. This means ensuring safety throughout the scenarios, whilst giving participants the opportunity to discover what they are doing and the effect this has on safety and the task, so that they can make decisions to change their behaviour or reinforce positive behaviour.
Note
i.
The roles of the participants in a skill station:
i.i React to scenario incidents as if in a real work situation
i.ii Focus on practising skills where they lacked during the skill station (coordinated by the instructor)
i.iii Identify individual strengths to act as support to other participants
i.iv Demonstrate relevant knowledge and abilities, and draw on their own work experiences and previous training
i.v Provide peer feedback when encouraged by the instructor
