LESSON 3 - MANUAL HANDLING TRAINING SCENARIOS

The aim of this lesson is to allow participants to combine skills practiced from skill stations into an industry relevant scenario. By practicing realistic industry situations with various ergonomic challenges, technicians gain a better understanding of manual handling risks and learn mitigation strategies, reducing accidents and injuries.
After having successfully completed this lesson, the participants can:

The scenario descriptions below are examples, and the training provider can create their own as long as they cover the mandatory learning objectives and practical scenario elements

Throughout this lesson, the instructor shall:
The instructor shall:
a. Establish the scenarios for this lesson in relevant locations and set-up any equipment or resources needed
b.
Assign roles to the participants in the scenario
c. Frame the initial situation that the participants respond to and act on. This includes describing any environmental factors in the scenario
d. Introduce new circumstances to the scenario when relevant (e.g. introduce time pressure, further injuries, or equipment failures in accordance with the local training risk assessment)
e.
Ensure safety throughout the scenarios
f. Conduct ongoing assessments (Participant Performance Assessment Form)
g. Provide feedback on participants’ strengths and areas for improvement and initiate peer feedback
