Totally Fulfilled
I had now taken back a company in huge debt, my name was being compromised—which drove me crazy—customers were get- ting more and more upset because their refunds were not paid on time, and I had some important decisions to make. My attorney and accountant recommended I file Chapter 11 and walk away from the business. From a business standpoint, I legally had every right to file bankruptcy, and not worry about the debt and refunds. Yet I had a knot in my stomach when I even thought of taking that road. So I followed my own advice and decided to do my best to pay off the debt and keep the company open. The moment I made that decision, the knot in my stomach went away. I came up with a strategic game plan to pay back the creditors and the unpaid refunds that built up while I was not there. Many people who requested refunds where delayed in getting their payment but they were not denied and that was what allowed me to stay positive and hold my head high through this tough situation. Did I handle it
perfectly? Probably not, but I was true to myself and handled it the best way I knew how. When things like this happen in life, it is very hard not to fall into the “Why me?” syndrome. But you can be the victim, or you can take
…take responsibility, focus on a solution, and fight your hardest for an outcome that allows you to be true to yourself.
responsibility, focus on a solution, and fight your hardest for an outcome that allows you to be true to yourself. It would have been easy to blame the company I sold to, but what good would that have done? Plus, I’m an adult, and I made the decision to sell so I could further my career, and now I had to take responsibility to repair what was not right. When I realized how messed up things had gotten, I took Motor Millions off the air. Here was the dilemma though: Taking the program off the air meant I stopped generating revenues yet still had ongoing bills and a huge amount of past debt. It was a very tough situation.
