Optical Connections Magazine - Spring 2026

SPONSORED FEATURE TE CONNECTIVITY

In today’s data-driven world, networks are expected to deliver unprecedented bandwidth, speed, and scalability. As hyperscale data centers, AI/ML workloads, and high- performance computing (HPC) environments evolve, so does the demand for reliable, high-speed optical connectivity. TE Connectivity (TE) is meeting these demands head- on with its expanded optical portfolio—featuring 200G, 400G, 800G, and the latest 1.6T transceivers—designed to enable the future of intelligent, scalable networks. TE CONNECTIVITY EXPANDS OPTICAL SOLUTIONS FOR NEXT-GEN AI AND DATA CENTERS

EXPANDING CONNECTIVITY WITH SPEED AND SCALE TE’s new generation of optical transceivers and Active Optical Cables (AOCs) complement its proven copper solutions, enabling seamless data transmission from the edge to the core. These products are purpose-built for hyperscale data centers, AI/ML clusters, and cloud service providers—where performance, energy efficiency, and reliability are critical. From short-reach links under 100 meters to connections extending up to 2 kilometers, TE’s optical products ensure consistent, low-latency transmission for even the most demanding workloads. COMPREHENSIVE, STANDARDS- BASED PORTFOLIO TE’s optical transceivers and AOCs are fully compliant with the latest industry standards, including IEEE 802.3cd, IEEE 802.3ck, IEEE 802.3df, and CMIS 5.0 / 5.1. With conformance to OIF CEI-112G and CEI-224G specifications, the solutions ensure interoperability and future-proof performance across equipment vendors. The product range spans: • 200 G to 800 G transceivers , including QSFP56, QSFP112, QSFP-DD and OSFP form factors , offering up to 106.25 Gbps per channel via PAM4 modulation. • 1.6 T OSFP 2×DR4 transceivers , now available for emerging AI and high- density computing applications. • Active Optical Cables (AOCs) up to 800 G , available in LPO and LRO variants for plug-and-play deployment, with 1.6 T AOCs currently in development

This comprehensive lineup enables flexibility for diverse network architectures—whether customers need standalone transceivers for modular scalability or integrated AOCs for quick installation in high-density racks. ENGINEERED FOR RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE Built to TE’s rigorous standards, the optics portfolio ensures best-in-class Bit Error Ratio (BER) and compliance with Forward Error Correction (FEC) standards such as KP4 and RS-FEC. Each solution undergoes extensive testing to Telcordia GR-468- CORE standards for environmental reliability, ensuring stable operation under varied temperature and power conditions. Moreover, TE’s transceivers and AOCs feature firmware upgradability, hot- pluggable form factors, and advanced digital diagnostics for monitoring performance in real time—critical capabilities for managing hyperscale and AI-intensive workloads. DESIGNED FOR INTEGRATION AND SUPPORT TE’s optical solutions are designed for flexible deployment across both single- mode and multimode fibers. This “plug- and-play” approach simplifies network scaling, helping operators adapt quickly to changing data demands. Customers also benefit from TE’s strong global supply chain, with manufacturing capabilities that minimize supply risk and ensure consistent product availability.
