Our five-day tour gives you a snapshot of the county of Dorset’s most picturesque towns brimming with history and ancient architecture, unique wildlife sites and an opportunity to discover more of its military history.
One of the UK’s most picturesque areas, the Jurassic Coast is showcased in our Weymouth packaged tour with a scenic boat cruise of this stunning area. Stepping back in time, we visit the traditional seaside towns of Weymouth and Lyme Regis as well as the rich in history county town of Dorchester and picturesque Athelhampton House & Gardens.

Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Athelhampton House and Gardens & Dorchester
This morning, we visit Abbotsbury Swannery , the world’s only managed colony of nesting mute swans. The Swannery was established by Benedictine Monks in 1040 and is now one of Dorset’s most popular wildlife sites. We spend the afternoon in Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, discovering its connection to Thomas Hardy and exploring its shops and museums which include the Dorset County Museum. Day 3 Sherborne and Yeovil We start our day in Sherborne, one of England’s most picturesque towns. With its honey-hued buildings and rich history, Sherborne captivates visitors with Abbey at its centre as well as two castles: a romantic ruin and a beautifully preserved castle set in grounds designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. In the afternoon, we head to Yeovil, meaning ‘town on the river.’ This vibrant town is famous for glove-making, giving rise to Today, we visit The Tank Museum , where the history of tanks and their crews come to life through a remarkable collection of over 300 military vehicles. The modern exhibitions transport us through significant battles since the First World War. OR Alternatively, we can explore Monkey World , a sanctuary set in the beautiful woodlands of Dorset. Covering 65 acres, this refuge is home to more than 250 primates. Founded in 1987 by Jim Cronin, Monkey World provides a safe haven for abused chimps and works globally to combat the smuggling of primates. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home. This morning, we visit Athelhampton House and Gardens which is an ideal venue for a group visit. The historic Tudor Manor has over 20 rooms open to the public and is surrounded by award-winning gardens. The house is rich in history starting with Saxon times, through turbulent Tudor England, the Glorious Revolution and a Victorian restoration to name but a few. The beautiful gardens contain four walled formal gardens, a productive kitchen garden and glasshouse. We spend the afternoon in Dorchester, discovering its connection to Thomas Hardy and exploring its shops and museums. Day 3 Weymouth We spend a relaxing day with ‘my time’ in Weymouth, with a fine Georgian seafront, esplanade and impressive golden sands. Take a stroll around the picturesque old harbour area and visit Brewer’s Quay which is full of arts and antique shops, visit the Sealife Centre or just sit and relax, enjoying the views and watching the world go by. Day 4 Lyme Regis & Lyme Regis Museum Lyme Regis is a pretty seaside resort situated on the world-famous Jurassic Coast. It is famous for its geology, fossils and its role in the birth of the earth sciences. The local clay contains remarkable fossil remains of sea creatures from the Jurassic seas of 180 million years ago. A visit to Lyme Regis Museum is also included, it was built on the site of Mary Anning’s home Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
